The weather is getting warmer and warmer as the days go by and the kids really need to get outdoors more. The backyard can be a wonderful place for imagination. There are plenty of pretend play items that you can pick up for the yard that will get them out in the fresh air but still give them some sort of props and toys to play with. It’s really the best of both worlds.

The classic of all pretend play is a playhouse. Whether its a small cabin or a two story castle, your kids are going to love playing house. It teaches them about family roles and how to interact with each other. It also gives them their own space, which can be fun when it’s lunch time and they want to feel like big kids, eating at their own table in their own “house”.

A pretend play barbecue grill is great summer fun as well. Have the kids mimic dad, flipping their own burgers and grilling their own hot dogs on their own grill, with tools and all. It’ll be a great bonding experience for the whole family to really get into barbecue-ing together!

Father’s Day is pretty special. It never seems to get as much attention as Mother’s Day does and that’s a shame, because dad taught you a lot of cool stuff through the years. How to change a tire, how to catch a fly ball, how to bait a fishing pole. And you really want to look into some special gifts for dad this year. You don’t have to look far. Bluefield Gifts has a great array of choices for good ol’ Pop.

It is summer time and dad has that big grill in the backyard he rarely ever uses. Why not get him motivated by getting him a tool set and tote, so he has everything he needs to make the perfect burger? Or maybe dad wants to kick back and enjoy beer with that burger in a nice new glass. Get him a set with a pitcher and he and his buddies can really enjoy the foamy taste.

If your dad is a more sentimental guy, there’s nothing better than a engraved picture frame with a photo of you two in it. He can prop that up anywhere he pleases and as far as special gifts go, it’s a winner.

Bluefield Gifts is proud to carry Fufoo jewelry for girls. With beautiful pieces that work for toddlers to teens, their is something for every child, even the picky ones. Fufoo creates 14kt gold enamel and diamond jewelry exclusively for girls. Their line is all about what makes little girls grand.

Fufoo jewelry can be found to cater to three different age groups, “Wee girls” (up to age 6), “B’Tween girls” (6 to 12) and teens (12 to adult). Their are fun, whimsical designs for everyone. Charm bracelets are a great pick for any age. They can represent the things your daughter loves, the hobbies she’s into, or even her love for her friends and family. The great thing is they can often be adjusted and added on to at anytime, so they are a keepsake that will stick around for years. And Fufoo has a great collection of them.

There’s also  earrings, necklaces, and rings to choose from if you want something a little different. It’s a beautiful way for your little girl to have something precious and truly valuable that she’ll hold on to until she’s older. Maybe one day she’ll pass it on to her kids.

Did you ever have a rocking horse when you were a kid? I did. It wasn’t just any old plastic rocking horse, it was a heavy, wooden one. It was my brother’s originally, but once he outgrew it it was passed on to me. This horse was beautiful. Hand crafted with a mane and tail of yarn and beautifully painted on saddle. I used to ride that rocking horse all the time, when pretending to be a cowgirl or even just while watching television. I loved it.

Wooden toys are really a cherished heirloom and not just a play thing. There’s a certain kind of care that goes into creating them and you know they will last you forever. You purchase wooden toys because you know the kind of love they were made with and you know the kind of love your child is going to have for them. And rocking horses are a true classic. They’ve been around since the 19th century when they were originally made by hobby woodscrafters, before they were made and distributed in a larger market.

That’s hundreds of years of history right there that you can pass on to your children and keep the joys of a beautiful rocking horse alive.

It’s graduation season, a time that seems to sneak up on all of us, and most of all on the students. Before they know it, they’ve taken their last final and they’re dressed in a cap and gown, being handed a diploma. College or high school, it’s a big event that happens once in a life time. When it comes to special gifts for the lucky graduates, you want to get something that they’ll treasure.

If it’s a high school student that is going away to college, why not help them out? You can get personalized travel totes for them to move their stuff out with, or to bring as an overnight bag when they come home to mom and dad for a weekend. You can also get some bath and body presents. Soaps, towel sets, anything that will help  them when moving into a dorm is a great idea. Remember, this is the first time they’ll be out on their own so any little thing can be a huge life saver.

Other classic gifts are picture frames to keep photos of their friends and family back home, or to keep in the office if they are out of college and off to a full time job. Personalized stationary is also a great gift to say, stay in touch!

When you think of gifts for a baby shower, you might think of bibs, pacifiers, onsies and teddy bears. But a beautiful keepsake that you can get for your sister, friend, or anyone else you may know whose expecting a little girl, is childrens jewelry. There is a good selection of jewelry that is safe for infants and toddlers, that can be beautiful pieces they’ll keep forever.

First, stud earrings are a good choice for a little girl. You’ll want to find out ahead of time, if possible, if the mother is looking to pierce her daughter’s ears at a young age or not. Its is a great way to get the process over and done with. I know I had to make the steps when I was older to do it myself and wished my mom had pierced mine as a infant. Stud earrings are safe and stay in place, keeping the hole open for their childhood so that when they get older, they can change the earrings to whatever they like!

Bracelets are also a fantastic gift. With sweet charms from hearts to lady bugs, you can give something that the mother-to-be is going to love having her daughter wear. And those bracelets can be saved as wonderful keepsakes and re-imagined into other jewelry as they get older.

So give something different for the next baby shower you head to. Childrens jewelry is perfect!

When I was a kid, there was nothing better than when I got to go to my best friend Danielle’s house. She had the best pretend play toys. My favorite was this huge kitchen, with pull out drawers that held fake utensils and dishes, an oven and a little microwave. It was pretty awesome and we would play with it for hours, switching roles, coming up with various scenarios and never getting bored.

That’s the fantastic thing about pretend play toys. Your kids are doing all the brain work of coming up with the fun, they just don’t realize it. And you don’t need a huge fake playhouse for their imagination to go wild. Kids can create fun out of even smaller things, like toy workshops or a baby stroller for their doll. All they need is some sort of toy or prop that’ll ignite their minds. It’s amazing what they can think of if just given a little push.

Pretend play toys are the kind that will entertain for hours. While a television show is only 30 minutes and a board game eventually ends with a winner, pretend play can go on for hours and really stimulate the brain. Nourish your child’s imagination!

I loved my wooden toys when I was a kid. Sure, I had plenty of other popular things like Barbies and such, but nothing thrilled me the way my wooden blocks did. I loved playing Godzilla. That was, setting up an entire city, skyscrapers and all, then walking over it all like Godzilla. Oh to be young and easily amused again.

But the thing was, despite all the hard falls my blocks took, they never chipped. They were made so well and with such sturdy wood that they last through all my playing. That’s more than could be said for my friends plastic blocks that chipped often because they were so flimsy.

And wooden toys aren’t just limited to the classic building blocks. Dolls and doll houses, wooden rocking horses, even puzzle games carved of wood are popular and well made. The beauty of them is that they are carved so perfectly. You don’t find that kind of craftsmanship in other toys these days.

So if you are buying toys for your infant as a keepsake to play with later on, or want your kids to have something new that will last them for years, wooden toys are a great choice.

Mother’s Day is less than 3 weeks away, and while that seems like plenty of time to get a gift, we often forget until last minute and don’t get as great of a gift as we should. This year, prepare yourself early, especially if you are going to be shopping online. After all, you need time to pick something out, order it, and get it shipped to you before Mother’s Day rolls around on May 8th.

You want to find special gifts for your mom, something different than the picture frame you got her last year, or the one you got the year before that. She deserves something with a lot of thought put into it, after all.

If you decide to go the route of jewelry, get her something personalized with her name or initial, or maybe even your own initial so she can keep you close to her. If she has a lot of jewelry already, organizers and jewelry boxes are a great way to help her keep everything together and keep those necklaces from getting tangled.

Some moms are big into being pampered, so consider perfumes or even a certificate to a spa. Let them feel feminine and special and get some  relaxation in return for all the years they spent running around raising you!

No matter what holiday gifts you get for Mother’s Day, a kiss, a hug, and an “I love you” will be the icing on the cake.

It’s exciting when a friend moves into a new place. You remember what it was like when you finally moved out a couple of years ago and now you are seeing others do it themselves. Your most recent friend to move just found a new apartment with two other people and they are throwing a housewarming party. You can’t wait to see their new digs but you have to bring a hostess gift or it’ll just be rude.

Hostess gifts are a nice gesture no matter what kind of private party a friend may be holding, but they are especially important for housewarming parties. After all, your friend and their roommates probably don’t have much in their new apartment and this is a great time to get them something special that’s also useful.

You can’t go wrong with kitchenware, because that’s always needed. But you can make it special with personalized mugs, glasses or pitchers. Put all 3 people’s initials on it and they’ll feel really  connected. If you want to go a less traditional route, a ceramic memo tile may be the the route to take. Every apartment with roommates should have one to leave notes to each other.

No matter what you choose, hostess gifts are important to show up with or you are going to be the only guest without something to offer.
